question regarding power requ for my graphics card

Thread Starter
i recently purchased a sapphire HD 2600 XT graphics card. the box says that the requirement is 550W or +. however i was wondering if I could get by with less, like 450W. If not, can anyone make some recommendations to any PSU i should buy? (70$ and less)

You probably can get by with that.

why then do they state a requirement of 550w+?

It would help if you filled in your full system specs with the User CP at the top of the page.
How many HDD's are you OC'ed,planning any upgrades?

That PSU has two 18A 12v rails = probably just over 350w combined under load. 2600XT uses ~ 100w, so yeah, more than enough. A decent 320w PSU would probably do fine in most systems with that card. Dunno why they insist on ridiculously high power supplies.
