Thinking About 8800 GTX Voltmod

im thinking about voltmodding my 2 GTX's . i know i could do it as i am an experienced solderer and i have a decent set of instructions to follow. my question is : i already have these cards clocked to 630 mhz core...will voltmodding them net me a SIGNIFICANT increase in FPS or will it just give me a higher 3dMark score...i do like my 3dMark scores but in the end its all about maximum FPS for me...opinions ???

imo, i wouldn't risk it, the only reason i would volt mod anything is for 3dmark scores, and the fact that you have an athlon x2 bottlenecking them already means that a higher GPU clock may not be worth it.

I would think nibitor can do your voltmod for you, then you flash the bios with the new rom with nvflash , I don't know at least u can with G92 chips ,, Im guessing why wouldnt you be able to with a uubber GTX ,,,,, Don't do the soldering, as blowing up your video card would not be cool @ all. Try nibitor ,, I don't know what the stock voltage is on those cards Im thinking 1.0 maybe or 1.01 like the G92 ,,, Then you raise it to 1.1 save rom file go to strict DOS mode and using latest version of nvflash ,,, just type in nvflash nameofyourromfile.rom , and bang ,,, Now you can take up the core even more and the shaders too,, GL ,, ask help if you need it.

a really good point. gotta ask your self, is a higher bench score and no real world performance gains worth frying your cards? i know its hard to leave a system alone but sometimes we have done all we can do to them.

i would like to know more about doing a volt mod this way...do you have any links to guides for doing this ?

im not all that concerned about frying my cards , i mean i am , i just feel very confidant i can do it without cooking them , but you are absolutely right about having to mess with my system....i cannot leave it alone...lol...and if a volt mod wont translate into a significant FPS increase , im not gonna do it.
