Do you own thse headfones? Turtle beach - Page 3

It's up to you. I can only think of it (badly) this way.

Would you rather have 5 speakers tiny and a mini sub (in each ear) or two nice big quality cans? (FOR HEADPHONES YOU PERVS)....

My choice is obviously the latter...I'm having trouble persuading a friend of mine lol, he keeps pushing the 5.1

A friend of mine at school had medusas that he went on and on about how they were unbeatable for gaming... I let him play a few games with my Beyers and he was blown away. People don't tend to believe in great sound until they hear it themselves.

I have Bose and Icemat headphones -_- I know what good sound quality is like. I was interested in the idea of 3D sound on my head

Ok, Straight up buddy, you're head phones are alright.
They're not awesome, they're just alright, for the price they're bleh.

You're 5.1 surround sound is nice. For speakers, 5.1 for gaming is awesome.
But you want gaming for your head. the icemat's are nice, but you posted
in a forum with a bunch of guys who've tested higher quality headphones,
and we're saying stick with some Senheissers or Audiotechnia's.

No bashing of Bose, they're alright, but for HIGH QUALITY and a better
experience for your head, get something else, and 5.1 is a gimmick WHEN
you're talking headphones.

Don't believe us? Go to a audiophile forum like head-fi.org and ask, whats
better, the turtle beaches, or HD 555's or ATH-500's for gaming.

Hope you find whats right for you!

I have a similar but lower-end pair, they're called Turtle Beach Ear-Force X-52. Sound quality is fine. I use them for gaming only though. I don't see the point in surround sound except for gaming.

Only if you'll be gaming or actually need the 5.1ness in some other way. Oh and mine don't do very much to block ambient noise, but it's actually to my advantage. People who speak to me I can hear fine, but my computer's many fans are quite quiet when wearing the X-52's, which is why I bought them. Those ones you linked to are probably better in noise canceling AND sound quality, so I actually would say that they are a good buy.

Most games in 2.1 mode change the sound so that your ears think that something is behind you. The main difference between sounds coming from behind you and in front of you is that they pass through the back of your ear which affects the sound and your brain detects the difference and knows where it is. After all you don't have 5 ears. I feel that the overall quality of a nice set of stereo headphones will trump 5.1 headphones because most likely the 5.1s will sacrifice sound quality and may confuse your brain if they are not seated properly on your ears. As for the noise canceling I do not know if they will block out the noise.

Let us know if you would like a stereo headset recommendation and your price range.
