When I reformat to x64 should I load default settings in my bios or would it be fine if I left it alone?

In addition to my BIOS question, is there anything I need to do in preparation for x64 other than getting my chipset and video card drivers prepared?

Should I have any trouble with booting with 4GB right away?
I read on here someone got bluescreens until they took out a stick of RAM and got the hotfix.

Oh and is it really normal to use that much RAM while idle?

Thank you.

Since you have the 680i (and I'm assuming it is one of the reference boards), you can save your bios profiles. So I would go ahead and save them and load bios defaults (with ram voltage and timings set) to install the OS. I would also only install the OS with only 2Gb of ram. Then run the M$ hotfix below, then use all 4Gb:

Microsoft
For those running into the problem of BSOD when trying to run more then 3Gb of ram on Vista, you need to run the KB929777 hotfix from microsoft. This hotfix applies to Vista, both 32 bit and 64 bit, so download the corresponding update.

I cant answer your "ram at idle" question, but I know mine uses aprox 1.2Gb.

Vista is averaging 1GB usage of ram when I have 4GB installed, and I have a 4GB pagefile.

Also, there is NO gain from disabling a page file, all there is it loses. Its a huge myth that I wish people would stop using
Im glad someone else see's sense and agrees with me.

DO NOT disable your pagefile lol.

I don't know much about 680i But in intel chips I had to enable Memory Remap for vista At first it didn't see 4 gigs But when I enable that and reboot "puff" $ 4 gigs. It has to be disabled for xp if you are using more till 2 gigs.

You dont have to with the NVIDIA chipset. In fact, its not even an option in the bios. The chipset will do it automatically for you.
