I like Nintendo. They care about their customers and respond very quickly to problems.

The Wii uses inexpensive parts not cheap parts. Nintendo's focus has always been the game experience not the jaw dropping realistic graphics and it pays off. I mean honestly, why the hell would anyone need the power of a 360 or a PS3 to render Mario in this day and age? It doesn't make sense and Nintendo knew that. They built the system how they felt it should be and it turned out to be one of the best systems ever conceived. I love my 360, don't get me wrong but sometimes it is good to get away from all of the over the top graphical enhancements and get back to the basics. As long as a game is acceptable looking, if it is an over all enjoyable experience then it is a win in my book.

This doesnt prove they use cheap hardware, it just proves some of the drives go bad. Its called hardware failure, as someone on OCN you should at least know about that. I had my Lite-On drive fail on me a week ago. Was a fairly nice $50 SATA CD/DVDRW drive.

Point is, crap happens.
It is underpowered is my point. Cheap doesn't mean poorly made (although i apologize i realize it probably sounded like that.) It means it is leaps behind the other consoles in power and things like this where it hits a limit because of hardware that can't keep up (in this case a storage medium that sometimes can't handle dual layer discs.)

I understand you don't mean to make fun of the wii, but saying underpowered is saying its literally underpowered for this generation. Like saying the power supply is underpowered for that computer.

Power supply=Wii
Computer=This generation of consoles. Just kinda informing you of that, cuz on here people jump on you easily.(I do too kinda)

But the concept of a system having to meet a minimum 'power' or processing ability both mathematically and graphically for it to be in a 'generation' of consoles is a foolish concept. It was made how it was for a specific reason and it has succeeded at it. A generation of consoles has no minimum spec requirements, it is just that they are released around the same time and nothing else. Every generation the only measure of a console is it's worth. Is it worth spending the money for it? Is it worth having it? The Wii proves it doesn't take just raw graphical horsepower to sell a system. I just hope the next generation's starting price points are less expensive...

And back on topic, this is still just a small percentage of issues and it is not Nintendo's fault if an optic is dirty but the consumer for having a dusty room.
