Having trouble overclocking quad core

post #1 of 2

Ok, I'm still at it with my building the best gaming rig I can get. Here's the new build;

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 Ghz
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L Motherboard
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS 512 MB OC
Zalman CNPS9500 Heatsink
Thermaltake toughpower W0117RU ATX12V / EPS12V 750W Power Supply
CORSAIR Dominator 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory (x4)

(I know I know, I don't have any OS's that can run at full 4 gigs but with more memory I figured more muscle.)

I'm trying to overclock to 3.0 GHz via Bios but it won't keep! I timed the memory to 4-4-4-12 and that keeps but not the CPU clocks. I followed the BIOS suggestions but it won't work. The system shuts down after BIOS reboot about 3 times then comes back and the clocks were reset back to original.

Just for now loosen timing 5-5-5-15.put your voltage 1.4-1.45.Set multi at 9 fsb 333mhz.That =3.0.If you keep youir ram timings loose at first it will help ,you take 2 sticks out for now also,the less you have to troubleshoot while Overclocking the better.
