How does Mac beat Ubuntu in hardware compatibility?

Ubuntu can you any CPU/GPU/RAM that Windows can, the only difference is the external stuff like printers (seems like thats all the this article cares about)

These guys are really not the sharpest.

Ubuntu runs on PowerPC, because OSX can!

Why does anyone care what a magazine says? It's not like what PC Mag says is the final, end all of which OS is better.

Yea, and anyone who takes what PC Magazine says is a complete moron. Has anyone here read PC Magazine lately? Every month it is complete crap.

This thread hasn't been that bad [comma] yet. I think that's because we here on the "other side" have ignored most of the absurd posts made by the insane people and focused on discussing (keyword, "discussing") with the smart people on this forum.

OSX has better support for most big name products, such as Palm devices and cellphones and printers. Ubuntu has better overall support, but lots of times that support is half-assed, such as GNOME pilot and KPilot for Palm devices.

You're right. They are probably talking more about peripheral stuff. But to be fair, they're not talking about hardcore enthusiast stuff.

I mean, obviously these guys are noobs. That's why they preferred OSX (an OS that excels at being easy to use), and that's also why they couldn't get Ubuntu working right (it should have scored much higher than they scored it, and they complained about lots of non-issues).

They said some good, some bad, be fair.

Obviously, you shouldn't believe every single thing an article says. Also, you shouldn't just decide to hate it or love it right away either. Just take what it says, filter out what you don't like, know why you like what you heard, know why you don't like what you heard, and become a smarter person.

i understand your point but look at it like this. my dad had no computer knowledge and windows pre installed was hard for him to understand ubuntu wouldnt have been that much harder if at all.

I need my 2,3, 7+ buttons on my mouse...

On a serious note (although I am serious about the mouse), I think a lot of these reviews are biased by the reviewers previous experiences. To achieve a totally unbiased review (at least for interface and ease of use), you would need to get a totally naive person and test things like how fast and accurately they can complete different tasks.

Everyone else has addressed many of the other issues with the review.

Come on, anyone who makes that statement is automatically laughable. If you didn't know Macs can use multi-button mice (and their own mouse is multi-button), then all the smart people should know that you have no idea what you're talking about, and they should avoid reading your posts.

No, that would only further put OSX in the lead. OSX is made for noobies, therefore someone who had never seen a computer before would catch onto OSX first and say it's the best.
