[Toms' Hardware] "PCs Are Good For Anything, Just Not Games"

TG Daily: Broken down, that means today's mainstream PCs aren't suitable for gaming?

Tim Sweeney: Exactly. PCs are good for anything, just not games.

"Intel's integrated graphics just don't work. I don't think they will ever work."
A nice interview with Tim Sweeney, creator of Unreal on some of the problems with PC gaming today

Course not, most PC's will never have games installed on them, the vast majority are just used for basic tasks that probably won't even stress the current CPU's installed, much less require a dedicated graphics solution.

He makes a good point about external GPU's. With laptop sales increasingly so dramatically, it only makes sense that the XG Station should have seen the light of day. Tragic that it didn't.

Ehm, I'd rather play on my PC than a console. That's great if you can put kb mouse on a console.

The problem is the people who buy a "new" gateway laptop with a 1.6ghz processor and 7150 gfx or something.

They install COD4 on it and expect to fly. It's their fault.

PC all the way.

I think a big problem is that people arent educated on the difference between integrated graphics and an actual graphics card...and stores like best buy and other places dont carry anything even remotely good for gaming

Roger that. I remember seeing an 8600GT for $200, and an 8500GT for $100 at my local store. No wonder no one bought Crysis there!
