Weird System Freeze

Thread Starter
I have had this setup now for about 10 days.

The system is OC'd to 3.1Ghz. I ran orthos on priority 9 for a few hours no problems.

BUT, since about last Wednesday it seems like the system would just lockup every three days for no reason. It just locked up while rivatuner 2.08 was installing. The VCore says 1.424 on CPU-Z. But the bios is set to 1.380.

Also, the gigabyte ez tune 5 program I use to monitor temps says the cpu is idle at 40C. Is that temp. high?

Not sure what is going on. This is when I am running Vista Ultimate BTW.

well, first of all, use coretemp to monitor your CPU temps, mobo software is usually high by about 10C in my experience. also, CPU-Z should tell you a more accurate voltage so I'd go with that, maybe try lowering your OC by 100mhz. 3GHZ is still good on a 5000+.

Hmmm. I downloaded coretemp 0.97.1

It says that I am running at 201.05 X 15.0. I didn't realize that. Maybe I should switch it to 200 X 15.0 if possible?

Also it says that Core 0 = 42C Core 1 = 49 C.

Wow, I need to apply as5 or something. Do those temps seem high?

If idle, those temps are too high, but if there load temps thats well within the limits

I'll have to restart and check the bios real quick.

The bios read 37 C idle.

I think these programs are reading my temp. wrong. 37 C sounds about right for idle.
The BIOS temp is 80% load which 37c seems reasonable for 3.1Ghz at 1.38v.
Do you have the latest version of ez tune?
Which BIOS do you have?
CoreTemp never seems to be accurate with Brisbanes.
What does ez tune say the temp is when running Orthos?
Check the video card forums,Ive heard some people with 9600 GT's having problems like this.
