Yes you would need a 24" or bigger monitor to notice any improvements over your current GTX. Save your money...maybe buy a bigger monitor, and SLI your GTX in the future. The GTX and Ultra are still "top dogs" in today's graphics. There's no reason to downgrade yourself to SLI'd slower cards.

Incorrect, with the release of the CrossFireX drivers for the HD3870x2, dual HD3870x2's (Even single for that matter) are better than NVidia's GTX and Ultras... at high resolutions like 2560x1600, the res I'm gaming at.

Worst Case Scenario: You are forced to play games without AA and AF.
Fortunately, AF requires almost zero resources on cards of this caliber, so the worst case is that you lose a little bit of AA capability on *some* games when you go up to that res.

But the truth is, at such a high res, you really don't need AA as much as you do at lower resolutions.

Not at 2560x1600 >_> I've checked. The 256bit interface is what kills the GTS at high resolutions. At 1920x1200, the GTS is better.

So if i was to go to 1920x1200, because 24" is pretty big to me (meaning anything bigger is too big for me) what would be my best choice.

Keep GTX and buy another later

Buy another GTX

Sell GTX and get two G92's

At 1920x1200, if you really want to spend the money, sell the GTX, and get two G92's (GTS 512MB are overkill if you don't have good air exhaust)

I would only recommend dual GTX at 2560x1600.

EDIT: On the other hand though, if you can grab a GTX used for $300 or less, two would run on par with GTS G92's

Air exhaust isn't a problem considering they are water cooled So its looking like two G92's unless i find a good price on a GTX

NOTE: When I say G92, I mean 8800GTs.
