9XXX Series Hype ??

Thread Starter
This is the first graphics card release that I have paid attention to. I was just wondering .... is there always this amount of hype and speculation surrounding a cards release? I admit it does make for interesting reading but no doubt that it constantly makes you 2nd guess the wait to purchase a card lolz. In fact it made me stop my purchase of my water blocks for my 3 Ultra's. Almost agony though when i start to read all the supposed leaks of information regarding the new card performace etc.... How often are these "leaks" wrong?? Or like I said is this an isolated inccident with the 9series?

Thanks vets-

Actually there hasn't been that much hype at all over the 9 series cards, really the Radeon 2900 series was the most hyped I've seen. So far though there seems to be no reason to change your triple Ultras. I'd wait until the 10 series comes out before you'd have to even think of upgrading.

There is always a huge hype before releases and as soon as information is leaked.

No, the 3870x2 wipes out an ultra with the new catalyst drivers. Remember R600? it was supposed to be an absolutely amazing core, one that would absolutely destroy the 8800 GTX. But rumors turned up false, and a mediocre card was released.

Well getting caught up in the hype I returned 2 of the 3 Ultra's LOL. But if i get burned going with either 2 GX2's or 3 9800GTX (performance wise) it will be a lesson learned on the next go around =P

Guess i'm not the only one .... =P

Hello, I was hoping I could get some help on what I should buy. I currently have an EVGA 8800gtx, I'm looking to go sli though..so what I was wondering is if I should buy another 8800gtx or sell my current one and get two 8800gtsG92 cards? As far as iv heard the new 9800 series isn't going to be worth it (correct me if I'm wrong).

Please help me with which card I should buy

Thank you

Duris
