DVD burner making weird noises

Thread Starter
I got my DVD burner for my first build ever a few days ago (no PSU, case or HDD yet), and I just noticed a weird noise coming from it when I pick it up.

I ejected using the emergency eject, and I noticed that the round beige plastic thing on the ceiling of the drive is the culprit. When shaken gently, it moves around inside of its housing. I don't know if this is normal or not, so let me know what you know.

Again, the little round beige thing moves around. It's clear that it's in perfect condition, but I just don't know if it should be loose like that.

I believe those help hold the disc in place during rotation, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Yes, they're supposed to be able to move about. You shouldn't hear that piece making noise during normal operation though.

I have this feeling that you're right on the money. I mean, it looks perfectly normal. It's probably a Samsung thing. The ASUS dvd drive (not a burner in this case) doesn't do that. I can shake it all about and do the hokey pokey, and it makes no noises. And that's what it's all about. lol sorry.
