Or wait for the next generation of creative sound blaster...Looking at Creative's release cycle it seems to happen every 3/4 years so since the X-Fi came out in 2005 this implies something should be out later this year or next year -not too far away.

That doesn't mean it will sound any better, the X-Fi is already an overkill audio CPU at the moment anyway. Nothing can max it out in any application so there really isn't a need to make a new generation yet.

They could make a better sounding card... it's fairly common knowledge that while the X-Fi is as good as it gets for gaming, it's so-so for music.
