[From XS] Turn your Maximus Formula into a Rampage Formula - Page 3

I flashed mine with no problems!

I noticed that my memory bandwidth has gone down a bit... I'll see if I can tweak it more...

Apparently everyone sees that at first, but with tweaking they end up with more.

I just flashed back to 0907, no problems at all ... if anyone wants to try it out, pretty easy to do...

One thing I noticed, was that with my memory, with the RF BIOS, I could now POST with CAS4-4-4-12 ... with the current 0907 I couldn't (DET RAM hang). But then Windows will BSOD at boot time ...

So still, with the new BIOS and the same memory settings used with the Maximus BIOS (5-4-4-9), I was getting around 12% less bandwidth, and 17% more latency ...so it wasn't worth it ...

You weren't patient enough with it. A lot of the guys who I've seen who did this found lower bandwidth and latency at the beginning when setting identical settings to the MF, then with tweaking and using the extra options, they got it back up even higher.

No i have had no haging problems. I dont think asus can do anything to fix this that i can think of it forces it through command about all they could do is not let you live update bios maybe but who uses that anyways

Yeah once you tweak out your specific memory you Will get an increase in bandwidth you just have to take you time and bench lots of restarts etc,etc
less vcore to overclock higher fsb stable for me also if you put the ttime into it it is well worth it

Flashed mine a couple of days ago. It takes a bit more time to tweak the memory for max performance, but overall performance definitely got better. Unfortunately the board ate my 4 GB of Crucial Ballistix 1066, leaving me with 4 GB of generic PC6400 until I get replacement DIMMs from RMA. Once I get mt RAM back from NewEgg I hope to really push this rig to its limits.

OK I flashed back to Rampage Formula after reading more and being more patient lol...

The way to boost your low bandwidth performance all has to do now, with the Ai Transaction Booster and the Channel/Phase Pull-ins. Seems like for the Rampage board, when left in Auto, it selects very conservative settings (or Performance Levels like the Asus BIOS calls it )....

I started with a read bandwidth of around 6900MB/s ... and after bumping up the performance level (from a default of 13, down to 12), I increased the read bw score up to 7500MB/s ... I'll keep tweaking it ...

Ok....Gotta format my HDDs to remove some sensitive info, so I'm going ahead and pulling the trigger on the BIOS conversion and re-installing XP. Results to come.
