Pci-e Slots

i do not get it why in the heck in why they dont put the pci-e slots below all the other slots such as pci/ pci x2 slots. its bs how they came it so you can use all the slots beecause of the card being to big. Any one agree with me that they need to start putting all the gpu slots below all other slots?

One reason they dont is because of SLI or crossfire. Wont be any room for cards.
I have to agree with you though, i wish they could come up with a way it would be better.

That would be a great idea, however the boards would have to be huge... Right now they are kindof there for space saving. If you think about it you need to have room for a dual slot cooler between each card, also if they are right by each other one wont be able to pull air. If you move the rest of the slots, where are they going to go? If they just move everything down, than the board will have to be ALOT longer, and therefore cases will have to be higher as well.

Doesnt it have to do with the trace distance from the NB to the CPU, ram and Video card? Thy have to keep them in close proximity to eachother. The the ASUS X38 boards have a PCI slot above the 1st PCI-E slot. It allowed me the space I needed to install my Audigy 2 ZS.

ya the maximus as the pci-e x2 for the sound card. but seriously with all these boards being developed dont yo think they would want the customer to happier being able to use all the slots? i sure would be and i know you all would be as well. im tired of not being able to use all the slots because of the cards. i want to crossfire one day but i never do because of the bs slot positioning. i bet you lots more people would buy more cross fire cards as well. yes you can buy the thinner cards but they dont do as well as the big cards. because of the fan aka cooler in them.... i think we should make a sign sheet for get the real name for it patition i think its called and send it into the manufactors. this site has plenty of people to do this.

Yes, it has the PCI-E x2 type slot, but it is actually a proprietary slot and can only be used with the included sound card. But my P5E (as well as the Maximus Formula) also has a standard PCI slot above the first graphics card that I used for my PCI Audigy 2 ZS.

But I know what you mean. I had to find a small PCI-E x1 wireless card that would fit under my Thermalright HR-03 heatsink mounted on my 8800GTS.

Another thing...why are all the heatsinks on video cards on the bottom of the card? Lol, I mean, the manufacturers are spending all this money to make the heatsinks look good, and then no one ever sees it once they install the card. Usually.
