Guys check this out, this amazed me...

20MB broadband, speed results with windows XP: DL =12122 kb/s UL=718 kb/s
PING=96 ms.

20Mb broadband, speed results with windows Vista: DL=19500 kb/s UL=734 kb/s PING=13 ms.

http://www.speedtest.net/result/213097802.png - 12MB test
http://www.speedtest.net/result/244767865.png - 19MB test

Is that not incredible? there has been no maintenance to my service, just switched OS...

its absolutely unbelivable, also note how both are done after midnight, so there both in prime time to get best results, although i have done speedtests during peak times and still got 18MB averaged....just cant believe it i been struggling for 15MB+ speeds for past 6 months, install vista bang 19.5mb..nothin i can say lol!

In order to be able to compare similar results, you would need to have much better control over the circumstances of the test. The difference in ping rates alone is impossible to compare or control so that they could be compared. There are too many variables in the internet that your results could be blamed/attributed to.

i appreciate what ur sayin, i cant believe it either, but i just cannot believe that coincidentally my ISP provider suddenly got my BB sorted and back to almost 100% speed within space of few days, only solid reason for change is that vista must be better configured for internet network, i dunno?

yea but jph, put yourself in my shoes, for 6 solid months ur '20MB' averages at 13MB, then suddenly soon as you change OS, your speeds are tested both at peak and off-peak times and come back at 18MB+...just too much of a coincidence to believe the changes happened through something on my ISP's end.

I think that vista uses the internet protocols more efficiently allowing for faster data transfer. I had the same results when I was running vista in comparison to XP. Try downloading something on xp with Free Download Manager, it's a really good program. You'll see great speeds.
