My first gaming build PLEASE HELP - Page 2

Deffo go Intel.

My old X2 5000+ BE rig at 3.2 GHZ could only play Crysis at medium settings and get frame rates in the mid 20's.

My E8400 plays everything on high with the Pseudo DX10 settings at 1680 x 1050 and get frame rates in the mid 30's, thats with the same GPU's, memory, HD's etc

Thank you guys so much for all the suggestions, now Im defiantly going with Intel

One more question, Most of you recommended a different video card, GeForce 8800 512 isn't good? I thought I read some good reviews

The reason why I am asking is because I already got the video card, should I switch to other one

Well if you already have it then no worries, is a great card, its just that if you want to play Crysis at anything higher than 1280x1024 you're going to need SLI, which means you're stuck paying another $230+ when for less you could've gotten an HD 3870X2. If you plan on going SLi get a 750i when decent motherboards come out, right now all Newegg has is a faulty Asus version and a MSI, which is a "value" board with cheaper parts. I would wait for Abit, EVGA, DFI etc.. to release their boards.

If you don't plan on going SLi then an Abit IP35 or a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L should be perfect.

The 8800GT 512MB is a great card. The 8800GT and 3870 are neck in neck in almost every comparison I've seen, with the 8800GT doing slightly better in gaming applications (and I mean slightly). Definitely keep your 8800GT.

Glad to hear you're going Intel. You'll be much happier with any of the Intel setups being recommended in this thread. Let us know when you post a new Intel build in the Intel section.
