Kaspersky or Trend Micro. Both work well in my experience. Just through general browsing you can still get spyware and spyware can lead to trojans and trojans can lead to spyware. Anyone who thinks they don't have a virus or spyware after not using any software for a year or more is delusional. And if you only use Avast, or AVG for virus protection, that is not protecting you from spyware. They work different. This is why I use Kaspersky or Trend Micro because they give virus, spyware and software firewall protection. But yes do use your head because it doesn't matter what protection you have if you give the infiltrators direct access to your computer.

OK thanks, I wasn't sure how long to run it for, I'll leave it on overnight tonight then.

Kaspersky, I had problems with avg on my new computer running vista, my laptop had no problem running avg with vista, but ive lost faith in avg now.
I got a trial of Kaspersky with my fav pc magazine last month, and i love it!!
If it ran out tommorow i would seriously go out and buy it that same minute! Nah its really good, MUCH less resource hungry than AVG!

I think one of the problems with my RAM is that the default voltage for my mobo is 1.8v, but my RAM needs 2.2v, so I've upped it to see if this cures the problem I'm having.

I'm now trying Avast, but I'm not too keen on the interface at the moment. I'm sure I'll get used to it.

I've got a free trial of Kaspersky, I'll look and see if it's compatible with Vista x64
