Hopefully I can grasp the RAM timing issue, its driving me nuts wit the 8x

BTW, that Lanfest RAM is no longer available
It's good to know that they implemented EZ clear on this board too, unfortunately multi drops have never been kind to me either hopefully you'll figure it out... Any more updates guys? Max FSBs, max OCs, max memory OCs, any weird quirky behaviors? How bout some benchies like PI and SisoftSandra?

This is the only x38 board that will allow me to stretch my budget to include the 8800gts (g92) as viable GFX card upgrade. In truth I had hoped the release/launch of the X48 chipset boards would help drop the price of it's predecessor, unfortunately there aren't many x48 boards available in retail and it seems the ones that are cost $300+. So I doubt there will be any price drop on the DK X38-T2RS.

Again, I would be most appreciative if someone could provide a few different benchmarks, for comparison purposes it would be really nice to see a stock vs OCd matchup. Thanks

Well, it seems to be going much better.
The current attempts, just today after a few days of from OCing the X38 have been far more friendly.
Why you ask
I've locked the TRD-WR at 8 with little effect from the previous poor showings with the 8x. So I tried 7 The VTT is at 1.508 (probably a bit high for an 8x450 but I went with it, worked the VID to 200 and then upped the C Gen to 3.60.
The 800 HZs are still at 5-5-5-15 2T so the attempts to tighten them will come later.
Those got me past the almost instant failure on a blend test at 8x440 and its now about 1 1/2 hours into it @ 8x450! FL temps are hitting 59-60 with a room temp of 66f or 22ish c. The HS Fan was up graded a bit, but nothing special and pushes a high 70CFM.... cool enough for now and quiet too

Wow, making some nice progress there Duke...

Have you tried OCing with the 9x multi? 450 X 9(4.05ghz) would be insanity!

I've done 9x420 with a 2 hour stability, but then one core error out on Lg FTTs.
An attempt at 9x422 only lasted 20 min on Lg FTTs
So 9x seems far more friendly..

Awwww crapolla, I just got an error on Lg FTTs a 8x450 after about 3 1/2 hours
Darn this 8x is a bit of a pain though

Well I can't seem to get past 500FSB no matter what. I have played with most of the settings in the BIOS but still no go. I'm not sure where to go from here but if anyone thinks that they can help we are all open to hearing it.

Lucky me, I found one of the screws on the True are striped and my temps are going south. So, time for a tear down because I have a back plate from the Ultra 120.
Go figure, I just barely bottom them out like usual with almost no effort. Frankly, I think the crazy X clamping bracket on the TRUE SUCKS!
Time to fab something better!!!

So what's the furthest someone has taken a quad on the DK X38?

I really don't want to spend an extra $100 for the LT X48... But if 450FSB+ with a Quad is a given, I have little choice.

@ The Duke

Have you tried dropping the multi to 6x?

Actually I did end up getting the LT X48 instead... And I only paid ~$70 more than the X38 DK would have cost me.

Still, I'm curious to see how the OCn has progressed for those with the x38 DK. Also any Genie Bios gurus want to give me some pointers for when my LT X48 arrives on Monday?

I've not done jack lately... the screw wasn't stripped, the nut came loose from the base... what a pain!!!
I have some fans on order to improve the cooling along with an IFX-14. The TRUE will go on the other Q6600 folder
Thanks to CyberDruid for the great deal on the IFX
I won't have more on the OCing for at least a few days though...
I'm doing some rearranging and running another dedicated 110v 20A line so the Computer room is a shambles ATM

BTW, on two occasions I did try the EZ Clear with no luck.

Yeah the EZ clear didn't do much for me either. I am also stuck at 500 still and I am right about ready to give up and say to hell with it. I wonder if anyone would trade me a MARS for this DK X38? This isn't a bad board by any mean and I did hit 500 pretty easily. But my 515FFSB goal is not looking good at all.

I did find this thread that has a lot of good links and great info on the DFI X38 in general.
