hey ocn,

i'm looking to snap up another 3870 but a visiontek is hard to come by from canadian websites, and noone will ship to canada for a reasonable price from ebay.

is there much risk in using cards from two different partners?

it might cause ocing issues but other than that is there anything to worry about

PS: i'm having terrible luck ocing this card

As long as you're using identical GPUs, you can Crossfire any two cards from any two vendors.

How the two will OC together, though, I cannot say.

actually with the cat 8.3 drivers you can use any vendor aswell as any of the 3XXX series in crossfireX

I think it is like mixing RAM. It will automaticall run bother cards at the slower speed (or is that SLI?). It is done all the time though. many people buy one card and then get the 2nd when one is on sale.

Dralb is correct the higher clocked card will drop to the the lower speeds this is the same with crossfire and SLI

I used to run a Sapphire x1950 and a Asus x1900xtx had no problems at all, mixing vendors is totally acceptable.

As long as the Warcat's maintained the crossfire-x ability, I see no reason why not. They are both 3XXX series cards.
