Speedstep stops working

Thread Starter
I have my cpu overclocked to 3.4GHz. I enabled Speedstep a month ago just to try it out and decided to leave it enabled. Today I turned on my computer and noticed that my multiplier was no longer dropping down to 6 like it should at idle. I quickly checked my BIOS to make sure it was still enabled and checked the Power options to make sure it was set to Portable/Laptop and they both were. I'm a little stumped. How could this have magically become disabled? I haven't changed or installed anything. Has anyone else experienced the same thing? I did a forum search for this issue and it turned up nothing. Thanks.

I guess by changing it from Portable/Laptop to Max Battery it decided to work again, although it was on Portable/Laptop when it worked before. It would still be nice to know *** happened if anyone could explain.
