Help w/new Wavemaster rig please! TOO HOT!

Hi Guys, I just put together a new system and am having some cooling issues. Any suggestions are more than welcome! Here's the deal:

Wavemaster case, Intel 6600 CPU, Gigabyte P65-DS3 MB, Arctic Cooling Pro 7 heatsink. 2 Noctua 80mm fans up front, Panaflo low speed fans in back and in blohole (blows out). PSU is an OCZ 510ADJ or something like that. I have a windowed side panel, w/panel on, I'm getting system temps of 48 deg and CPU of 45 degrees. W/the panel off, both drop a degree or two. I installed the sink w/Arctic Silver and installed it very carefully. This system seems too hot, what the hell? All bios setting are stock, no OCing.

Check out the pics below. It looks like the wiring is totally obstructing everything but that's mostly the camera angle. I'm going to neaten it up as soon as I figure out why everything is so hot.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I would have to say to get the Tuniq Tower if it can fit in your case and I know that your case is new or whatever, but maybe think about getting another case that has bigger fans and more ventilation. I'm running my q6600 with the tuniq and the CM Stacker 830 at 30c. COLD COLD COLD

EDIT: and if you want the temps to lower dramatically, I would say watercooling if the Tuniq can't fit, but hey, your call.

48 degrees idle, or load? The Arctic Freezer 7 isn't a very good cooler, and 45-48 degrees idle sounds about right for an Arctic Freezer 7.

If you want it cooler you should get a Tuniq Tower 120.

Edit: Is your CPU a Q6600 (quad core) or an E6600 (dual core)?

that case is really OLD lol..

on topic..

grab a tuniq or a TRUE both fit in yout case.

if would mod your back plate and try modding 2 120mm fans there or atleast 2 92mm fans.. or 100mm even.. for better air flow

if all else fails .. go water..

Hi Guys, the CPU is a E6600, that's 48 degrees idle, no load. Maybe I'll try the better cooler. Thanks for all the advice.

My Wavemaster ran pretty warm till I WC'd it, then moved on to a stacker. Lets face it, 3x80 mm fans don't cut it with air cooling anymore.

Even with your not the greatest case ventilation, you shouldnt get those temps with that processor and no OC. I would think a good posibility is you sat the heatsink wrong or maybe used too much or not enough thermal paste. And your cooler isn't a bad one.

When I mounted the sink the first time I used Arctic Silver that had been sitting aound for 3 years or so. After the 1st install I had CPU temps in the 50's, I don't think the sink was mounted tight enough. I finally took the sink off and remounted it more carefully, used the last of the AS and made sure the sink pins snapped into place properly. It still sux, ha ha. Can't say I'm that impressed with the pin system on this sink, I might go for the sink recommended in the posts above and get some new Arctic Silver.

My fan speeds are around 1000-1100, FYI.

I realize the Wavemaster is a little old school but I like it! I got it on the cheap on Ebay as a refurb.

It's odd that your temperatures are still so high though. Are you running your VCore at auto? You can often undervolt a Core 2 Processor and still have it run at stock speeds.
