Intel chipsets... don't do... SLI... buying a second 8800GT will give you no extra performance.

Hey Danny G welcome to OCN.
A couple things you should know. First make sure to REP+ the guys who helped you, they deserve it for helping you.Just click the Rep+ box under the name of the person who helped you.
Second, if you're going for an Intel build you should put this in the Intel section, probably the Intel General section. The reason why is you'll get better results if you ask in the right section. You were lucky everyone found you here. I'm not criticizing, just trying to help.
Good luck with that system, it looks awesome!!!!

I Would never suggest a Arctic cooler 7 for a quad. It blew cooling my E4500 and I had to buy a Tuniq. If he is going to get a Q6600 and overclocking then a AC7 isnt the best choice.

Ok so here is what ive decided.

it comes to around £680, whihc was originally out of my price range, but im buying over a two month period, so im gonna order the case, the ram, the dvd/rw and the hard drive now. which brings it to around £500 next month, (maybe less considering the prices are dropping.

So is this setup good? before i buy the case etc.

Are you asking about compatibility? Sockets and standards don't change when going from one country to another. I don't think Newegg ships direct to the UK though.

Chris B17 -hes not overclocking. The coolers we got in the UK which most people use to cool a quad cost £35 or $70-80 so its a rip off for a piece of metal. lets face it, its better than an intel stock cooler.

We in the UK can not get parts shipped from newegg. Were still paying $300 for the q6600. parts are a lot more pricey overhere. my bugdet was $1.2k for my pc, which bought me my specs as stated below. plus a new case and better psu than the z-cool 650 ive got in at the mo. $1.2k in anmerica would get me an 8800gtx in this system instead of a 9600gt.

thats why many of us brits dont overclcok. cos if we do it wrong its gona cost us a bomb to replace, plus we havent got the time cos we need to work 24/7.

Wouldn't it be the opposite? Since you can't get as much in terms of performance because of price, wouldn't you want to overclock to get more for your money? Overclocking isn't risky in my opinion, even a light OC will be better than nothing.
