If that's all he meant, i apologoze then...it sounded like he was jumping on me.

I turned off super fetch and it made a HUUUUGE difference. I also got rid of windows defender as well....it was using over 10 megs

It is still rediculous that pre-builts are shipped like that.....imagine how bad it would be had I not removed all the bloatware.

If you haven't already done so, try turning your Power Options to the Performance mode.

If it's an HP turn off things like the HP Updater software,HP Health Check and HP wireless assistant in MSConfig.

Optimize the page-file in Advanced Options by right clicking on My Computer-->Properties.

Then run 'services.msc' from the 'Run' command and set the following to 'Manual':
Windows Error Reporting Service
Tablet PC Input Service
Remote Registry

Set the following to 'Automatic Delayed Start':
Terminal Services
ReadyBoost

All the HP stuff is gone, been gone since day one

The Tablet thing I turned off earlier, but I'll do the others....thanks

I also did "Optimize for best performance" in advanced properties and then left the box "use visual style on windows" so that it is not ugly

I played some light games fine with 1GB of RAM in Vista, and this was a year ago before I botched my chipset drivers, keeping Vista from booting to the desktop.

You don't NEED 2 GB for Vista, CS:S ran fine maxed out (4xAA), aswell as a few other games I can't recall. I am not saying that CS:S is RAM intensive, just that for light gaming and less, Vista will run ok with only 1 GB of RAM.

In my experience, vista on a pre-install sucks balls. I really don't know what it is, but they all seem to suck. I turned off all the bloatware, used selective startup, and the system sucked.

Well, too bad it's the computer manufacturers are giving vista such a bad name.

I don't quite know what that means... lol

What's a 75% frequency that's not usage?
Frequency is frequency....
If your cpu on 100% is 2.66Ghz (x8 multiplyer) on 75% is 2.03Ghz (x6 multiplyer)

On screenshot cpu usage is 8% and frequency is 75%
