Seriously, if you don't make at least $500 off this kid you are either too nice or a complete FAIL. I agree with the many others, screw the $1000 CPU, GTX's, and trip monitors. Give him dual 3870X2's, a 30" monitor, a slightly overclocked Q6600 (which you can dub an "extreme" quad core), and a custom case decked out with enough LEDs to land a 747. We all know a computer that looks fast will please him more than a computer that is fast. As long as you put enough hardware in there to max out today's games he'll never know the difference.

I'd also recommend very nice cable management. That can make a computer with a side window look expensive. Throw in little extras to make him feel powerful, like fan controls, LCD displays for temperatures, a custom splash screen, etc. And of course, no money-wasting build is complete unless it includes one of these.

Good luck! If he needs convincing, make a new thread for us to leave comments like "ZOMG best build EVER!!!". Gotta help out our fellow OCN's

My thoughts exactly. If you give him a Q6600 at 3.0GHz, you can sell that as an amazing overclock. Give him 2x 3870X2's or even just SLI 2 8800GTs. He woould never know. Then you can even give him 2 x 250GB in RAID 0 and a 500 for backup and storage. Put it on a nice board, and that's a 1.5k Rig, TOPS. Then you pack it with "Top grade fans and accesories" and manage the cables, paint her up pretty, pack it with lights and stuff.

And then you can really make bank on him.

You mean...

Your building a $4,000 rig...

And putting inside a horrible, lame, bland, plain, unattractive, ugly LianLi failiure case?

Even though that's a lot of money, you're wasting it to the max.
