Dual Monitor Problem

Thread Starter
Ok. So my mother owns a HP DC6000 Notebook. She runs a second monitor for work while at home. I was able to set this up the first time around, but now we've upgraded to Vista and I can't seem to get it running. Normally, When the second monitor is plugged in another box pops up showing monitor two. This no longer happens. The second monitor displays what is on the home display but the computer doesn't seem to recognize it. How do I fix this?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Right click on the desk top. Click on "Personalise" then "display settings"
It should show 2 monitors there. click on the second one and check the "extend the desktop".

Bam! One big monitor.

I searched around on HP for graphics drivers but none fix anything. I also went to Nvidia's website and download the GeForce 6 series drivers since it says it has a GeForce 6xxx in it and it says there's no hardware to support the drivers. I know the steps to do this normally, but it doesn't show up. There are errors in the system>device manager but the names are very broad and the descriptions read "Device is not working properly".

Ok. So i ran driverCleaner on the notebook and it still has no recognition of the 2nd monitor.

is there a checklist someone can create for me of things to do in order to make sure everything is right? With the computer out of commision, my mother loses $30/hr.

If it makes a difference it's Vista Basic Home edition.

I don't think it should though.
