Overclocking ASUS P5LD2 mobo w/ pentium4 CPU550 3.4GHz

Thread Starter
I'm overclocking my machine and was wondering if anyone had any better suggestions or whether or not what I have done thus far is sufficient. I have an ASUS P5LD2 motherboard, with 2G SDRAM, Intel Pentium 4(HT) CPU 550 3.4GHz processor (socket 775) and am running Windows XP professional NT ver. 5.1 SP2.

Currently I have my settings at 3.74 GHz for the processor and 881 MHz for the system bus. L2 Cache memory is 1MB. I have 6 fans for keeping this machine cool and am running them at 1513 RPM. The CPU temp is 37 C and system temp is 32 C. Memory is set at 1.80 volts, CPU at 1.2875v, and PCIE is 1.55v. At this point in time, my multiplier is set at 17MHz and external frequency is 220MHz.

My system seems to be running fine and I've played CS:Source last night for hours on end with much better results than previously, and haven't experienced any crashes as of yet. Are these settings okay as is? Should there be any more tweaking done? Is there anyway that I'm on a sure path to overheating and destroying my processor? Let me know any tips or suggestions. Thank you.

Darren

those temps seem fine, especially since that is a rather modest overclock... have you upgraded your heatsink/fan as of yet?

no, i haven't upgraded my heat sink yet. Its kinda old, so I tuned it down to about a 5% overclock. I'm afraid it will overheat....
