I started folding for OCN with my macbook and will do with my other pc. But is there no view box to see how many Work Units(i think its called) you have done and the estimated time that the work units will finish? Im kinda new to this folding thing.

i'm folding on my macbook pro, i use this program called InCrease just inststal prgram and chose a few settings,

for the best settings use these:

If you have a 2- or 4-core Intel Mac, you're done already. For G4 duallies, G5 duallies and quads, and Intel Macs with 8 or more processors, read on.

In InCrease Preferences choose "Use CPU count of 2." Close Preferences. (Or choose 4 if you have a quad-core G5.)

Go to the "Groups" menu and choose "Create more units."

why use InCrease:

InCrease lets you monitor the progress of your work units, on one computer or across a network, from a single window.

InCrease pauses folding whenever you're on battery power.

This is awesome. I'm going to start using this with my 13" macbook. If it catches fire... I'll just buy a new one since it's getting old and I have been dying for a reason to get a new lappy

Dunno, but I would assume pretty high. I have to work a few hours today but I'll try it out when I get off and post my findings

Airport card and the CPU get pretty hot under normal load (60C - 70C+)

I wouldn't recommend folding on a laptop you don't want to lose.

My UnderPoweredBookG4 died FAR too early a death due to over-stress on the thermostats, resulting in rogue overtemp-shutdown commands.

I have a Timemachine backup that I run every night so I am not that worried about it. Plus I think it's still under warranty (bought the extended plan). Technically I am not voiding the warranty because I am not "misusing" it or taking it apart. Hmmmm... I'll see how it goes and I will decide from there.

EDIT

I am getting about 99-103 C during folding.
