The right kit?

Thread Starter
Hi guys

I posted a few days back when I needed help for a new build and now I have a system in my head I can let you guys tell me what you think. I've got a new credit card so I've gone for what I think is the best. Let me know if I'm on the right track...its been a while since I built a system

Here we go.

CPU: AMD Phenom 9600 Black Edition
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DQ6
RAM: Undecided...looking for some overclockable ram, preferably 4GB. Suggestions?
PSU: PC Power & Cooling Turbo Cool 1KW
GPU: Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 (X2 Xfire)
HDD: Raptor X 150 (X2)
Cooling: Suggestions? Looking for air. Used to have a Tuniq Tower
Sound Card: Suggestions?
Case: Akasa Eclipse 62 (Used to own one, I loved it )

I'm open to any suggestions from you guys but I would like to stick with the AMD cpu & the ATI cards. I had a Intel/Nvidia setup before and I wanna try something different.

Cheers

Everything looks good but if you want the AMD quad you might want to wait for the new steppings to come out.

i am an amd fanboy through and through but there is absolutely no way i would ever own a 9500 or 9600 phenom. new ones are coming out soon. wait til then if you dead set amd. and if your not dead set go q6600 and 780i. <---- hurts to say that, really does

as far as memory goes get some pc-8500. i recommend g.skill or tracers

Joeking, just make sure you know if you plan on putting those Raptor's on a RAID 0 array that there is no redundancy at all. So if one drive fails then your data is gone.

Good luck with your purchase

I used to have to raptor x in raid 0 on my last rig, for a year i had no problems so i'm hoping for the same luck this time

I still need advice on ram...I used to have 2gb G.Skill 800 HZ, they were top dog I seem to remember for a while. Is there anything as good out at the moment?

Joeking, the GSkill 800 HZ are a perfect pick. I believe those come with the Micron D9 IC's which are great when it comes to overclocking

Good luckl
