ati2dvag error with pretty much new system

I'm looking for system diagnostic tests that dont require a cd or floppy disk.

on a different note my computer specs are

Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Professional

OS Service Pack Service Pack 2

CPU Type DualCore Intel Pentium D 830, 3000 MHz (15 x 200)

Motherboard Chipset nVIDIA nForce4 sli Intel Edition

System Memory 2048 MB (DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM)

Video Adapter Radeon X1900 Series (Omega 3.8.442) (512 MB)

Case: Coolermaster nvidia stacker

I recently formatted since I upgraded from an even worse comp 5600 and a mobo I don't even know and some old ass processor.

My main problem is I can't figure out exactly what is causing the ati2dvag bluescreen which is what I am pretty sure I fixed. Now when ever I'm playing a game my computer will lockup and I'll have to manually turn it off and restart sometimes it will be the first 3 mins into a game or it will run fine for hours. I've run stress tests like orthos and I have sensors and monitors for any overheating problems I just cant figure out exactly what is causing this crash.

If anyone can please suggest any way of fixing this problem or knows of possible causes or just anything I'm all ears for anything right now cause I'm just at a stand still.

I'm not very computer savy so I thought I would post here.

I've tried what http://www.modernstreet.com/general/ati2dvag-problem/ reccomends even reformatted a second time around. I just dont know what to do anymore.

what an odd combination of hardware choices. Anyways.. it's a common issue in XP which is still unresolved. A LOT of people suggest it's temp issues

yea I didn't chose it my self I've been waiting to upgrade my comp for awhile now and from sponsors I got a good mushkin 650 watt powersuply and 2 gigs of mushkin redline series ram. Before I put this comp together i was waiting on an 8800 gt and evga 680i a1 mobo and e6750 but my old comp died on me and some friends had some spare parts so I just upgraded to whatever I could get my hands on. Anyway I thought it was temp issues at first as well but ati tool shows my temp never passing 60 celcius, and the temp for my system temp/cpu and hdd is 41/42/30

I really hope its an overheating problem to be honest though cause I can just install 12 more fans and aftermarket heatsink and be done with it.
