Thread Starter
Well I have been searching and doing research on the net for months now and I have finally started to purchase the parts. I've always been into computers and games but never had a "fast" pc so I am excited. My goal is to maximize price to performance and I think I'm there.

Here is what I plan on. Bold= Already Purchased

Case- NZXT Alpha - $45
CPU-E2180 OEM-$50
CPU Cooler- Arctic Freezer Pro 7- $23
PSU- Thurmaltake Purepower 500W - $45
MOBO- Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L (rev. 2.0) -$82
RAM-A-Data 2x2gb PC6400- $69.99
Optical- Asus DRW-2014L1T- $37.00
Hard Drive- 500 GB WB SE16- $99

Graphics-XFX 8800GT- $150
OS-Vista Home Premium 64bit- $99

Total Build Cost = $728 Shipped

UPDATE: I am up and running with no problems. Still waiting on a new GPU so just using a 8500GT for now. Im loving Vista 64bit and I have had no driver problems.

A good budget build. Good luck. Hope you pick a nice OC monster E2180.

I have my hard drive and Vista coming in a few days. I put together what I had today.

Went well except for the Arctic Freezer, first try 1 pin would not go in. Re-try and bent a pin. Took some time but got it in.

I took the video card out of the old pc to see if it would post.. And it posted on my first try. Can't wait to finish now.

The AFP7 looks so ugly, but its cheap and works quite well... Can't complain

Be sure to let us see the final result!

A good build. The only thing I would of done different would be going to PC8500 ram for higher oc's. FSB runs close to 500 with that mobo. gL

I would say get the Galaxy 8800GT. Everyone who has one adores it. If not Galaxy, then I have had no problems with my eVGA, and they have a great Warranty program.

I updated my first post with my new rig complete. Still waiting on the 8800GT.

I am surprised at how easy the build went and the everything worked the first time. Vista 64 with 4 gigs a ram is great and I have had no driver problems yet.

I like my Case the best out of everything, no door and its very sleek.
