[TomsGames] No Blu-ray for Xbox 360

After weeks of speculations we now know that Microsoft has no specific plans for a Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360. In an interview with Reuters, product manager Aaron Greenberg said that "Xbox is not currently in talks with Sony or the Blu-ray Association to integrate Blu-ray into the Xbox experience." In an interview with TG Daily last week, Greenberg also noted that HD DVD's demise does not affect the console's position as an entertainment center and that Microsoft isn't that focused on high definition with the Xbox 360 anyway.

Interesting, i thought it was going to be 100% Blu-ray

This just goes to further prove that MS only backed HD-DVD because they knew it was going to lose and them backing it would create confusion in the market.

In the meantime, they could advance the digital distribution that the 360 offers.

Theyre probably trying to think of a way not to piss off the 300,000 people that already bought a HD DVD drive.

WOW, I think it would benefit Xbox a lot to add on a Blu-ray drive. Even if it is around $200-$250, it is still cheaper than a standalone player. Even though personally if it was $250 or more I would buy a 40gb PS3 for $409(oh wait I already have one!)

GO PS3! they had it right adding a blu-ray drive right away. Let the flame wars BEGIN!!!

I bought an HD-DVD drive for my 360. I'm happy with my new Betamax
purchase considering I can now afford twice the amount of films for my
library than I ever could have with Blu-Ray. Yeah the selection is more limited,
but the films I can buy on HD-DVD I like much more than the selection
that's on BluRay.

(When it comes to films, I'm extremely selective about what I buy)
(Renting is another matter altogether)
