Yep, lots of people will probably find this handy. What keeps Windows going strong is the abundance of quality programs with intuitive interfaces.

If this program can manage point/click installation/configuration of games, more people will try out Wine for sure!
Definitely. Every time I've tried out Linux it's been "sudo apt-get toupee-because-I'm-ripping-my-hair-out-in-frustration". The an intuitive interface is definitely a step in the right direction.

All older games, but I won't get into that.

My problem is that with most (I say most) people who have the technological inclination to use Linux and understand something like Wine, are either going to be of two types, either they have a really nice computer or they really like older games (WoW and CS and SC are the ones that really come to mind here) this means that they either want their new games and awesome graphics because they just dropped a grand on pretty new graphics cards and CPU and therefore need Windows, or if they are in the second group then this works for them.

Also, let me know the moment people stop trying to "make windows games playable on linux" and instead start playing linux games on linux (that are the same AAA titles being played on Windows) and I will tell you it is a complete operating system, from my point of view.

Also, about playing Linux games, I am sorry, I have played quite a few of them for at least a little while and while I don't knock the game play, it can be top notch, it seems to lack a bit of finish in my opinion, just that one last step that huge companies take in making their millions of dollar investment as good as it can be.

@kamakazi

I disagree. If Linux is the future (who can say?), then it will need a very backwards compatible stance in order to accommodate any sort of transition.

Want proof? Look at 64 bit software phasing out 32 bit. Or even more on the mark, look at Windows Vista. What if Windows Vista were incompatible with any previous Windows (it almost was at release)? The OS of the future needs near-full backwards compatibility.

That's why Wine is so important to Linux.

Also all games that people won't ditch when the next "high graphics low gameplay" game comes out. Each one of those games has at least as many players playing it as every other game in it's genre combined (Well maybe not TF2 or C&C3, but give it time). How many people do you think will still be playing CoD4 this time next year?
