[softpedia] High-End Gaming Computer Poses as Backup Server - Page 2

Governments fear good programmers, and since a lot of government officials cant tell the difference between building computers as a hobby, and programming, any crime that deals with computers on a some what small scale, and doesn't involve child porn, or pirating, will be looked at like jay walking...

I'd be surprised if this guy even loses his job over this...

But on the other hand, he might be made an example of... who knows...??

What i don't understand, and what i think is extreme is the tolerance of what they decide.

Probation > 20yrs that's a pretty big jump. Couldn't they at least be a bit more accurate, and lets face it. He aint gunna prison anyway.

Both the UK and Us have turned into girly states when it comes to things like this. They will give him a slap on his hand and let him be on his way.

Well, "if" he doesnt have anything else against him, such as prior convictions, then why should he have to goto jail for 20 years.

You would also be paying for him to be there...

Why should he. Maybe it is a bit harsh, but people are not going to learn unless they know there are consequences. 20 years is enough to scare most people from committing the same crime again.

I don't mind paying for people to be in jail, at least then i am willingly giving my money away.

Precisely, that is the kind of comment i am getting at.

People catagorise crime and think 'hey, i may as well. The police are hardly guna do anything to me. That must make it alright'

We need to erase that kind of thought and just kick everyone in the nuts who thinks it is alright to do something illegal.

Sure 20 years is a bit steep. But even a bit of jail time would suffice so that people realise that the justice system isn't a total joke!

I agree that some jail time would fit the crime, but 20 years for something completely nonviolent seems a bit much.

Man, district attorneys are getting hit hard. Harris county (Houston) got kicked out for racist jokes/sex jokes in his email, Eliot Spitzer was a former DA, and now this guy. They need to watch what they're doing.

They got caught using the stupid ticket we are issued when we are born. Some cash it in on big items.
