well nvidia has alot of games that support nvidia cards better than ati so in crysis we see this drop in frames, but i'm sure the 4000 series will kick ass. $10 says the 5000 series comes out in early 2009.

I think this is mostly marketing jargon and disinformation. I just dont think the card could possibly have that many TRUE sp's. (reference: R600).

However, I am sure there will be some kind of a jump, especially with a dual-gpu version of the card.

I am all for ATI, but I dont like all the rumors, tbh.

Man, i had heard 480 SP's, 32 texture thingies, and 16 ROP's...

But 800? Couple this with the rumors of 1 Ghz + core and regardless of efficiency ATi should be able to brute force it. It seems way to high though, just my opinion.

I would guess 480 for RV770, and 960 for RV780 (HD4870x2)

Those were the numbers i had heard. I'd also heard they beefed up the texture units (TMU's) from 16 to 32. I think that estimate is most likely, it shows the 50% increase from last gen we've come to expect, and it shows ATi has learned it's lesson fromm R600 in the TMU department

yup ati's card have immense shader processing power but their texture fillrate lets them down,and no hardware support for AA almost cripples the AA performance
