Just bought a PS3 with my winnings....

I was at a local conference for my company and there was a drawing to win Bestbuy gift cards. I entered and won a $300 gift card (why couldn't it be for newegg ) So seeing how there is not much I need from them I decided to give the 360 a friend and bought the PS3.

I have to say right now...I am disappointed with the PS3. I knew the controller would be hard to get used to but there are more reasons for my dislike.

My first disappointment was the fact that it only comes with the composite video cable. I should have waited till I bought the HDMI but wanted to see the hype. Plugged it in, turned her on went through the initial set-up and the wow, a bigger version of my PSP

Second disappointment, I went through all the set-up and put the game that I bought "Resistance: Fall of Man". All I have to say about this game is, fail. The game play, as well as the graphics were not what I was expecting. I was looking for something in the vain of Gears of War but got Contra.

I went back to bestbuy to get the HDMI cable with hopes that this would help make my gaming experience feel satisfied…. Nope, the resolution was a bit better going from composite 480 to Digital 1080i but didn't help out that game at all.

Maybe I just need the right game to get into the PS3? Anyone have any suggestions on games for this thing?

I have a PS3 and I think its great. I don't see why you don't like Resistance, its a great game. Especially for a release title, you can't compare it to GoW for many reasons, they are different styles of game play and it came out on a system thats been out for a year already. I don't know what you were "expecting" but Resistance is not fail. Also not all games play in 1080, most are still only optimized for 720.

Call of Duty 4 is great, but you probably have that for PC already.
Assassins Creed is fun, but only to rent.

Definitely Call of Duty 4, then Devil May Cry 4 and that one Geometry Wars-type game that's on PSN (I can't recall the name atm) were all good games.

You are right maybe not outright fail but to me anyways. I was expecting better graphics. I do have COD4 for PC but may pick this up for the PS3. Thanks for the input.

Good call, I have Devil May Cry 4 for the 360 but disk doesn't work due to scratches. Thanks for the input.

The girlfriends dad has a ps3 and I dont care for it to much, the controler also feel tacky feels like a could puch the analogue sticks though the controler when pressing them in, for some reason it dont seem as well made as the ps2 pad *eventhough they basicly the same, hold the ps3 controler up to the light you can see how thin the plastic is, you can see the light though it lol

are you kidding me? the plastic is meant to be semi-transparent. its not because its any thinner. and the only reason its lighter is because it doesn't have the dual shock.
