Thread Starter
Ok the deal is my Evga 9600gt has black screen problems. I rmaed it to newegg. So I got about $220.00 to spend on a new video card. Now Im looking at a ATI 3870 (Save me a few bux so I can buy cod4) and also looking at a 8800gt or a 8800gts g92. So I want to know if the games that I see that say "Meant for Nvidia" will that ATI perform worst in those games or is it some kind of marketing for Nvidia? Also I have heard more then once that the 3870 picture quality in games is better can anyone confirm that? Thanks.

G92 GTS or GT is the way to go if you are using it for gaming. GT's price is below $150 and GTS is below $200. If you want the setup program, go for evga 8800GTS. I have HD3850 but not the HD3870. Yes. In gerenal, ATI cards has better image quality.

Is just a marketing thing, nVidia gives developers some of their video cards while they make the game in exchange to put a little ad in the loading screen.

i'm confused, you said the 8800 GT is below 150? the PNY GT you linked was 200.00 and 160 after MIR.

My card in canada is still worth 270.00 brand new -- and the GTS you linked to was 269.00 and 230.00 after MIR.

Am i missing something?

I am talking $150 Galaxy 8800GT 512MB. NCIX.com has it. They put it on sale every two weeks or so. The evga 8800GTS 512 is $239 if someone wants the setup program. The PNY G92 8800GT is $160 at amazon.

lins, do you think that that card is worse or better than mine?

Is there even a reason mine cost 270.00 in Canada?

why should I have even boughten my card when I could've gotten a card with prolly the same specs for 150.00 on NCIX.com

I was leaning twords the 3870 I like things to look realistic as possible. And I run a small res of 1024x768. So would the 3870 max all my games with aa and af enabled? I need to get a card from newegg they gave me $20.00 of my next purchase because they messed my PSU order up. I was looking at 8800gt but the coolers look like crap on neweggs website.

I just got the EVGA 8800GT 512, seems to OC really well and the cooler is quite quiet after the system starts up. For $200 AR, I wouldn't suggest anything less at this point, but I've never experienced an ATI card, either. EVGA has lifetime warranty and 90 day step up program, so it's really a win-win situation for me.
