Great thread helped me out but one question for the 2180 MO 100c owners....

Which darn temps program is right.

All the ones I use including Everest Ultimate, Coretemp, Realtemp, and others as well. They all read the same and from what I though I had to add 15c to these temps to make them right. For the 100c vs. 85c thing, but it seems no one else is doing this? Am I missing something or what and the Speedfan I use is 4.33. I can not find 4.34 and the newest coretemp I need as well. Realtemp reads low as well?

Any help please becase I want to overclock more but not sure of temps?

So with the stock cooler, you're hitting ~70C @ 3GHz on full load with orthos? Really? That's...abnormally high. I only hit 70C when I dumped 1.6v into my e2180 to get it to 3.7GHz (yeah, I know too much voltage-bah!). How's your case air flow? I'm guessing it should be decent given your case. I'm just surprised...can't think of what else it might be... It could just be you have a hotter chip. Did you take a look at the E1000/E2000 OC'ing thread here? Here's the link: http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...on-thread.html Most people's 2180's don't go much past 55-60C near 3GHz on air cooling. Hmm...

Does the heatsink feel warm when you're under Orthos load? Maybe you need a higher CFM fan on the AC7 heatsink?

case flow is decent

yes it does feel warm... but not hot like it is doing a good job sinking the heat ... no copper in the stock cooler though

ill keep it like this for now and get a nicer cooler as soon as possible

Unfortunately, nobody really knows. There are several good threads on temperature accuracy recently, please check these out:

I'm wondering if it really matters--I mean, sure, you don't want to fry your chip, but what's more troubling is that people who have the same chip and mobo are getting much lower temps with the same programs. But yeah, I've often wondered how anyone knows what the real temp of the core/cpu really is, and if it even matters... If what everyone else says about adding 15C to the load temps is true, then I'm hitting the thermal ceiling when the CPU is at stock volts and speed under orthos load (65C as opposed to the reported 50C)?

Whats goin on Guys . I seemed to find some useful stuff on this thread as i have a very similar setup.

Just say the discussion about the temps . Im trying to work on something different right now but when i was @ 3.0ghz with my stock cooler which i still have installed i maxxed out in cpu temps at 65 C over 8hrs orthos , ambient was probably about 69 F Is that temperature abnormal ? I didnt think so. Maybe with the AC7 i would then think so I heard for the money it is a very good cooler.

Also i Use the HWmonitor from CPUZ mentioned above. It does show the NB temp TMP1 Damn 59 C. So when you mentioned yours was cool it threw me off cause mine it pretty hott.

I dont know if this is normal but it seems from hottest to coolest in my case it goes GPU>NB>Ram>CPU.

Ahh so im posting from my unstable rig something caught my eye the blinking scroll lock ligt Whats up with that .

Dylan let me know if you push that thing further im trying to run 400 x8 stock cooling , unsuccessful at the moment .

If system doesn't like one set of OC congiguration, it will reset to stock settings even you see the same data in OS. To avoid enter data again when OC fails, press F11 to save the setting with profile name. To reload this set of congugration data again, press F12.

you mention HW monitor temp 1 is the northbridge of the DS3L ? are you sure of this ?
