Help me pick out sodimm. Are 2 single chips cheaper than kits?

let's make sure I'm not looking at this wrong.
2x2gb sodimm kits from newegg. - notice the gskil is 77.
1x2gb chips from newegg. - each one is 34. x 2 = 68.

i know the model number's are slightly different, but... huh?

Anyway, despite that. Can you guys help me pick some ram? I just need 4 gigs of stable ram as cheap as possibly without sacrificing too much quality.

Why? Is this any different than buying 2 of the same 2 gig chips separately?

Here's another choice. How about cheap patriot ram from clubit? or even those adata chips in my second link. two of those would be 56$ after rebate!

Buying 4 1 gig sticks put a lot more stress on the north bridge than 2x2gb.

And I assume you have a x64 bit OS, or are playing to upgrade to one? G.Skill is a very good brand, go with those.

Also, what is your laptop model number and company?

dude, you are completely missing the point of this thread. The question was about buying the 2 chip 4gb kit, or buying the 2 2gb chips separately, and why the later was cheaper. Did you even look at the links?

I'm also kind of starting to question your credibility in laptop knowledge after that statement. How many years has it been since laptops shipped with more than 2 slots?

I'm running xp mce 32bit right now. I know about the memory limitations, but but there are too many utilities I personally need that don't work with 64 bit right now.

Updated post with laptop info.

My point is still valid, so get off your high horse and change your tampon while you're at it. If you buy the kit all at once, with both sticks together, you know you won't have any odd compatibility issues or anything.
