[Project] Taming the beast - TT Mozart Mod - Page 2

Wow... That is one huge case.

For the top panel, I like the mesh, but I think that there should be some accy in the there as well. This is obviously not going to be an air cooling rig, so I could see a square 480 mm rad fit on top.

Otherwise, accy on the top and honeycomb mesh on the bottom would look great. Hammer the mesh so it's flush with the rest of the top panel, than top the whole thing off with a rounded-edged square panel of your favorite plastic with beveled edges. Mounting the accy on the exterior eliminates the need for C-channeling along side the window, and the rounded corners and beveled edges would give it a distinctive look.

Anyways, that's how I see it. Looking forward to more!

marcus000, Your mod got me interested in this case. Do you think it would be at all possible to somehow accommodate M-ATX mobo on the rhs on the case instead of M-ITX form afactor? Do you think it could be modded to take ATX + MATX? thanx.

Acrylic > Mesh window

Very very nice but the Mozart is like too tall for my likings. I mean, if it was tall AND Wider - then this would have my money in an instant. But there is no width to it - its just a pillar.

I can't wait to see how this puppy evolves.

My two bits; please do something with this area:

That's always looked clunky and fragmented to me. It seems like the designers tried to tie in the 3.5 with the mesh strip, but it just didn't work. The front I/O area there always looked really cluttered to my eye as well.

Yeh I had a look through your build log to try n get some inspiration... the blue was a bit too "in yer face" for what I am hoping to achieve with my efforts... at the moment i'm thinking black with red accents... who knows though! Anything could change!

How about translucent red acrylic under or over the mesh in the roof and then some small red pieces on the side panels!

Roger.. note taken, will see what I can do to improve upon the design.

Do you mean the paint or the leds? My camera makes the leds look way brighter then they really are.

nice. have been weaiting to see someone mod a tx. i just filled mine and integrated my wc gear and a ms ir receiver, not what i would call modding. mine has the plain black side panels. being a htpc, i wasnt looking for any lighting or bling, i just wanted enough room to put everything inside the case.

the horizontal bar you removed doubles as a psu support, but i dont really think it is needed. the 4 scews in the back (like most cases use to be) should be plenty. i like the mesh top, wouldnt have worked for me since my z5500 controller sits on top, but that looks like a nice touch. as for the rads, you could fit 2 240's in the top of the back if you wanted to keep it all internal. i have one back there now and there is room for another

Yeh it doesn't really serve much purpse and it would be an eyesore now I have made the windows full length.
See pics below to see the mesh and red acrylic in action.

On with the piccars!

Roof panel with mesh and translucent red acrylic underneath it.

Carrying on with the red arcylic highlights I made some lil red acrylic triangles to fit onto the side panels.

Shall be updating again later so stay tuned!
