i got the p5n-d w/ a q6000 and had it overclocked to 3.2 for 3 months and it worked fine with no problems. then just last week it won't boot up. so i put it back to stock settings and its fine. then i tried to overclock it to 2.5 and it froze up again after boot up. whats wrong here?

Lordikon,

Can you give your complete BIOS setup?

I have FSB@1666, DDR@800, VCore@1.31875, HT@1.52, NB@1.54, SB@1.52 and DRAM@2.19. Multiplier is @x9. So far stress test in Prime95 was running for 2hours no problem. I have the Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800 and clocked at 4-4-4-12-2T. If I up the DDR higher than 800MHz on reboot I get a long beep. and the PC won't boot.
Any suggestions for getting the CPU to run at 3.8GHz (my final goal) and also how to get more out of my RAM?
I run the E8400, ASUS P5N-D 750i

I'm not around my computer, and it has been months since I made changes, here is my guess:
FSB @ 1666, DDR @ 833, VCore @ 1.34 in Bios (lower in CPU-Z), HT @ 1.44, NB @ 1.46, SB @ auto, DRAM @ 2.21, Multi is x9 for my CPU. I also Crucial Ballistic, but it is the 1066 stuff. I use 5-5-5-15.

Most of the times when I couldn't boot up I was either in an FSB hole, or my RAM speeds/timings were being picky.

I'm not too impressed with this board, although for the price it isn't bad. I'm currently having some issues with the computer locking up and can't pinpoint why. Even at stock settings I lock up, but I never lock-up during any stress test. I could run Prime95 for 3 days straight, but then stop it and run IE7 for 10 minutes and lock-up (just as an example). I also don't lockup during other tests, like MemTest, or the HD speed tests, or 3dMark06, or any Sandra test. Very annoying.

****WARNING THIS IS NOT STABLE SETTINGS****

Well I decided to goof around with to see if I could boot into 4ghz, here is the pic.

The settings to boot into windows and run Pi 1M:
E8200
CPU - 1.487v
HT - 1.5v
NB - 1.5v
SB - 1.5v

Rated FSB 2002.7
500.7 x 8

Of course Prime95 failed miserably. I'm too much of a chicken $hit to try to stabalize the settings.

Yea thats my ex, Kelly, she's too clingy.
