Recommend a cooler for my new build

Thread Starter
I'm making another PC build, same mobo as mine, a Asus P5N-E SLI but a E4500 C2D processor.

Compared to the stock Intel cooler, the Big Typhoon on my rig keeps my CPU cooler by about 6c @ full load measured with CoreTemp and EVEREST. Not a big difference is it?

Now, I want to install a better cooler on this new PC build. What do you recommend?

I don't want something that is too expensive. How about the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro? I heard it needs to be modded to fit the P5N-E though because of the mobo heatsink. Is there a link to show how to do this mod properly?

Any other coolers you could recommend?

Thanks!

Just so I know where my Big Typhoon 120 stands, is it better than the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro?

My friend has a Big Typhoon and AC7 before. He said they are about the same. Few weeks ago, I got a Tuniq. The temp is 7c lower than AC7.

I can attest personally that the Tuniq Tower 120 > Zalman 9500 > stock

They say the Zalman 9500 is better than the AC7 and i've heard that a 9700 is very close to the TT120

But from my personal use I highly recommend the Tuniq Tower 120 as it keeps my 24/7 OC to 49 cel

fixed your post

if the chip has the potential you'll get it to 3.2

What are the E4500's known to be commonly OC'able to and is there a specific batch/week number I should look out for?
