High temps? - Page 2

I just did a quick test @ 3.6GHz just to give you an idea on what to expect. Ambient is 21c and vcore is @ 1.43v. My idle is 28-32-28-32 and my load with Prime95 was 51-55-51-55 after 10 min. This is with the setup in my signature. Just make sure you have good airflow.

That is using Small FFT. At 3.8GHZ(1.56V) my temps are around mid 60s and 3.9GHz(1.65V) about 72-74c.

what is your VID on core temp ?

This could be the reason.
Mine is 1.3125, and this count as a high voltage. The lower VID, the lower temp you gonna get when you overclock. There is a guy who post his load temp on air using thermalright ultra 120 Q6600 @ 3.80, and he doesn't go past 58c using prime small fft.

with my antec 900 case(all fans on high) and my zalman my idle temps were 30-33c and I was at 3.825 under load I never went over 64c on prime
but with my new case my temps have really sky rocketed I think it all comes down to ambiet temps and case airflow

My VID is 1.25. But keeping the rad. outside the case with good airflow helps a bit.

Whats your voltage @ and whats your ambient temperature? Also keep in mind this temps are with 2 overclocked 8800GTS cards in the same loop.

that's is a really good VID.
Before I volt moded my MB, i couldn't make the Q6600@3.60Ghz stable under 1.6v.

I had my antec right by the window, coldest part of the room but I would say ambient temps near my case was around low 20s maybe abit cooler
