well im looking into a asus P5KPL-VM mobo for the old POS just to get it going. is their any cheaper asus quad core ready mobos out? the VM is $88 on ncix.

I'd stick with the G31 chipset, the one you mentioned originally, especially for overclocking a quad core.

If you want to OC, stick with G31/G33 Barelake-G chipset boards as possible.
