3870 Ram WC - Page 2

I'm lucky to have mine right side up. My 2900xt had ram on both sides so that was kind of a challenge

I have MCWRamcools on my 7950Gts and I don't think the holes would line up quite right. I think it would either interfere with the GPU block or not cover the ram chips properly. When I get a 3870 or two in the near future I think I am going to try to make my own version of the ramcool for the 3870. After I dropped one of mine and then had to buy another because the cast delrin cracked, I am going to make one that I can fit G1/8" or 1/8"NPS fittings on. They do seem to keep the ram cool though and I have been able to clock my ram pretty high for these cards.

As By-Tor said though it can hurt your flow. you either have to use the swiftech F fittings, which work just fine. Or you have to have a separate loop. My northbridge was getting too hot for my liking so I made a second loop with NB and 2xMCWRamcool DB-1 pump(which i would not buy unless it was for a small 1/4" loop like this) and a BIP GTS 360 I had lying around.

You could try and drill holes if the surfaces for the ram lined up. If I end up getting a 3870 in the near future I will try and post some pics of what would need to be done.
