YouTube remains the dominating video website in the U.S. with an estimated 3.36 billion videos viewed during the month of January. According to Comscore, YouTube currently holds a market share of 34.3% in the U.S. far ahead of Fox Interactive Media, which was ranked second with a share of 6.0% and 584.1 million viewed videos. Yahoo came in third with 315.0 million videos and a share of 3.2%.

Comsore said that YouTube is growing faster than its competition, gaining 1.7 market share points over December.

More than 139 million U.S. Internet users were accessing t least one video in January. Google's YouTube attracted 80 million, with the average user watching 110 minutes of videos, which is nearly half of the total video time per user of 206 minutes. Fox Interactive attracted the second most viewers (53.9 million), followed by Yahoo Sites (36.3 million) and AOL (21.9 million).

I wonder how many videos are viewed per/person on average each day? I probably watch about 10 on average each time I visit.

YouTube is dying though, its getting so overused that its impossible to find anything on it. For example, I type in Family Guy, looking for maybe a 30 second clip or a montage, and the first 10 videos are some loser who thinks we actually care about what he has to say. Nobody wants to sit there for 5 minutes watching somebody talk about what you would much rather be watching. I really wish Maddox would take a break from whatever the hell he's doing and write a nice juicy article confirming my beliefs.

imangine how much they will get sued because there is still a lot of copyrighted material on it and neither does youtube nor the uploader has that right.
so that would mean they would be threatent to be shut down, because of making profit over something they dont legaly own if they get sued for that it is.

I agree, but youtube can fix this problem easily. The use of a catagory subsearch would help. So just beside the search box is a drop down list with things like Cartoon, comedy, things like that, so if you type in Family Guy and get a bunch of crap, switch the subsearch for comedy or cartoon and it'll narrow down to something more specific.
