P4 Dual Core Vs Core 2 Duo Problem

Okay As some of you know I bought my old man a Core 2 Quad 6600 GO

I'm having issues now. He used to own a Pentium 4 Dual core 3.0ghz 2mb cache

I'm using that now Since I'm lapping my cpu.
Anyways With my stock cooler she Idle at 70c which is why I bought my dad the Quad for better temps... and performance. Anyways I thought it was cause he had terrible Air cooling and viruses turns out nope. It idles at 74c in windows. But I haven't loaded anything I'm to scared seriously.

So I said screw this and Put on my tuniq now it idles at 41C and loads at 51C
I had to use Everest Which is displaying the same temp as the Bios on my motherboard. So it is correct. Core temp says ERROR not a Intel core architecture

But It seems to be okay with my tuniq, I even tried 2 different Stocker coolers. My C2D overclocked and overvolted only loads at 54c so whats up plus that idles at 31c... and With the stock cooler it idled at 35c.

Sorry for all the writing, I really rather not send it back to INTEL i lost the Packaged box for it. and I have not the time.

Thanks and REP+ for whoever can help me, Rep will not be given out randomly so Don't be upset I only rep whoever truly helps...

EDIT: OCCT says its completely stable at stock settings. No overclock. so why the heat issue?

Did you flash the BIOS?

EDIT: What is the motherboard your father is using?

and ABIT SLI board. Also I just read most get terrible temps with this., its an Pentium D 830...

Hopefully that is false but they were using stock cooler and getting 48C idle with stock cooler I'm getting 74C

But With the tuniq it acts fine. Also In my 680i It squeaked like it was gonna blow

I have the newest bios as did my father.
I'm now at 38C idle.

Right there's your problem. The NetBurst architecture put off a :turd: load of heat, the only way you can keep it down is with the Tuniq or something close to that. When you say stock cooler, do you mean the stock cooler for the Pentium, or for the C2D? Because a C2D cooler won't do well with something as hot as a Pentium D.

EDIT: It's a 90nm to boot!

So i have a INTEL FLAWED CPU? lol Great. I wanted to sell it to a friend but it idles so high And i'd regret selling him something to smoke up soon.

and i used the C2D cooler and a Quad cooler.

Read above edited post. You're trying to use a 65nm cooler on a 90nm chip. A 90nm chip will always put out way more heat than a 65nm. It's not that your CPU is flawed... it's that it is working properly

hmm odd. the D 830 cooler is the same as the C2D cooler only difference is the Fans are bigger...

Wow your right man, didn't even notice, I just checked Cpu-z and it says 90nm. lol WOW....

so my 38C idle and 49C load is GREAT right now then??? but this is the tuniq.. all powerfull air cooler.

but should I worry about giving this setup to my friend for free?
He has nothing to lose but hes a tight bucks and thinks he gets screwed doing anything.

As long as you give him a good cooler, it'll run great!
