8600 GT/S vs 2600XT/pro vs hd 3650 vs 8800gs

for my secondary rig I'm getting tired of my fanless 6600 GT, and I'm probably going to get a new budget(~$100 at the most) video card thats going to run TF2, Cod4, and games like those on a 5600+ and 2 gb o' ram. In an apeiva qpack2 on a asus m2a-vm. Since its a Micro Atx box single slot cooler would be nice.
The 3850s and 9600s look nice but those are too much for a pc i don't really use that much.

Right now the 8800 GS looks pretty nice at $110-$120 but is it worth the extra money over the 8600 gt or 2600.
And I haven't even heard anything about 3650 hows that compare to the rest.

Any input is appreciated
cheese

AMD uses 3650 to macth 8600GT. 8800GS is about 3850 and slow than 9600GT. Based on what the desription, 8800GS is the right one for you.

after reading this at techPowerUp, the 8800 gs looks amazing, probably par with my old 8800 gts 320 and now I believe the $40ish more for the GS compared the the 8600 gt, but it costs less then the hd 3850, but performs above it. And right now the EVGA version with an 8800 gt cooler is only 120 on the Egg.

8800GS is by far better than the other video cards that you mentioned
post #6 of 10
Yes, the 8800GS is essentially a 8800GT Jr. 96 shaders, 192bit memory bus, and 384 mb of ram. There is a 640mb version that performs significantly better in some tests, and slightly outperforms the 9600GT.

8800GS by far, don't even consider the others.

8800GS >> 8600GTS > 8600GT = 2600XT > HD3650 > 2600PRO

At least from what I've seen.

acually 2600XT DDR4 is faster than 8600GT from the new drivers. HD 3850 should be similar to 8600GT and 2600XT with DDR3 ram.

they should be making a 3650 with DDR4 soon.
