Asus P5K-E and Win XP Problems

Thread Starter
Hi,
I yesterday put together a system using the following equipment:

Asus P5K-E Motherboard
Intel Q6600 G0
Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX (4gig RAM, DDR2, PC800)
MSI 8800GT 512mg OC
WD Raptor X 150gb
Enermax Noisetaker 425watt PS (from old system)

1) I configured the system, booted, went into BIOS, everything seemed fine. I did not overclock. All hardware was found as appropriate, RAM, speed, processor, etc.
2) I installed Win XP SP2 32-bit. After a reboot I would POST fine, then see the Windows Logo screen, and then it would turn the blue screen real fast and reboot the system itself.

I tried the following to resolve the issue with no success:
1) Run chkdsk /F
2) Run FIXBOOT through Recovery mode
3) Reinstall Windows

I can get into Windows with Safe Boot, but with regular boot Windows gives me the blue screen and restart about 70% of the time. The other 30% of the time I get in just fine. Once in I tried running stress tests, etc, no problems at all.

What would be the culprit here? The memory, the video card, the motherboard? Any help is appreciated.

Kind regards!

Having used the same components as you before,I found the Ram voltages had to go up..2.2 min,NB V to 1.5 and the cpuV on auto..
Also it would not detect Sata drives unless I had AHCI selected..NOT ide...
Hope this helps,Ill keep checking progress here..

Yeah, I was kind of thinking that a better PWU may be in-store. I like the Corsair 620W, though it is expensive. Enermax is good, but 425w may be too little?

Ok, I disabled reboot after BSOD, I now get the:
'Unknown haed error c:\\windows\\system 32\
tdll.dll"

I just ran Memtest86 and found no errors (though did 2 dimms, did not take any out). I can get into Windows about 50% of the time (50% it crashes with this error).

Tried both nothing. Reformatted, reinstalled, same problem. I think it has something to do with the ICH9R driver or something else.

I either get the "Unknown system error" or

c000021a (Fatal System Error) or Session Manager Initalization failure with status of qxc00026c.

I will try to swap out the power supply tomorrow and.. hope it works..

Thanks!
