AC Accelero S1. 3 quick shots.

Thread Starter
Thought I'd share 3 quick shots. My Accelero S1 came yesterday, but I will be installing it tomorrow or Tuesday, as the 120mm fan and the VR heatsinks didn't come yet. Enough with the talking here's the cooler. Enjoy!

I'll post shots and overclocking results, tomorrow or tuesday when I install it.

Yours truly,

I got mine like just after they released the rev 2, at svc. (newegg was "out of stock" until sometime in mid feb, and i got mine in lat jan) The reviews about the memory heatsinks falling off, are because people don't know how to install them. You clean off the memory, (with alcohol covered q-tip) let it dry, then put the heatsinks on, and let them "bond" for about 10-15 mins. Then they will stick. I love my acclero. It is very quiet (compared to the "vacuum" cleaner that the stock one is) and keeps my X1900XT very cool. only about a 10C diff between idle and load.

Will 91% isopropyl alcohol work well? Also, is there a cleaning/applying technique I should follow?
Thanks

probably, I got a set of arctic clean stuff when i bought mine. That stuff works wonders. I was almost to the point (with solutions at hand) of the same stuff, like goo-gone and alcohol, but it didn't quite cut it. But yeah, 91% should work. just make sure it doesn't look greasy, and then apply some pressure to make sure they stick. and resist the urge to "test" if they are stuck to the memory tightly. They are.

My Voltage Regulator heatsinks came today. To my surprise, they are MUCH smaller than I expected them to be 2 Shots today. I'm expecting the fan and a full installation tomorrow or Wednesday.

A little word about the memory heatsinks falling off ...

This might be due to the type of thermal pad used by the stock heatsink.

I just removed my 8800GT stock heatsink and replaced it with my tried and true ND-1.

What I found when removing the stock heatsink was that EVGA is using a sort of thermal pad for the areas contacting memory IC's which utilizes a type of heatsink made of a (fibrous?) material impregnated with what seems to me like an oil or greasy, lite liquid of some time.

It's the same sort of thermal pad that comes with the Thermaltake ND-1 and is not your normal, thin thermal adhesive tape.

This type of thermal pad will leave a definite film of oil on the memory IC's when removing the stock EVGA 8800GT heatsink. IF THIS ISN'T PROPERLY CLEANED, then any aftermarket heatsinks attached with thermal tape will definitely not adhere properly.

Best bet ... clean extensively with Isopropyl alcohol ... clean and then clean again. Make sure the IC's are dry before adhering any type of new RAMsinks.

Just thought I'd chime in as I just now finished installing the ND-1.
